Guide for Authors

The Conference organizers are pleased to invite submissions of abstracts for presentations and posters describing research relevant to the topics being considered.

  • Abstracts should be typed in ‘Times New Roman’ 12 point font, using 1.5 spacing, with no line numbers.
  • Abstracts must not under any circumstances exceed one A4 (or letter size) page in length; the total word count should not exceed 250 words.
  • Abstracts should not contain photographs, figures, tables or references and should allow a left hand margin of 3.5 cm for binding purposes.
  • The title should be in boldface and should concisely indicate the specific nature of the work.
  • The names of the authors should follow on a new line and in regular print.
  • The author who will present the poster or paper at the Conference should be indicated by an asterisk ‘*’.
  • The addresses should then be printed on the next line.
  • The abstract should then begin with a brief introduction, with an overall focus on the results and it should end with the main conclusions. However, these should not be indicated as separate headed sections in the abstract.

Oral Presentations

Please comply with the following instructions for your oral presentation:

  • Only LCD projectors will be used in the technical sessions.
  • All slide presentations must be formatted for PowerPoint display.
  • All presenters of oral presentations are required to submit their PowerPoint presentation to their session moderator or preloading onto the moderators laptop computer.
  • The moderators will contact presenters prior to the meeting to make arrangements for receipt of their presentation and method of transfer.

Posters

  • The display panel will be provided for each accepted poster. The poster panels provided will be 100 cm wide and 200 cm high, and posters must thus fit within this space.
  • We recommend a standard size of A0 (85 cm x 120 cm).
  • “Dots” with adhesive on one side and Velcro on the other will be available to mount posters to the display panel.
  • The official language for the posters is English.
  • Posters should be readable from a distance of 3 ft (0.9 m).
  • For adequate visibility, letters should be at least 3/8 in (1 cm) high after enlargement to full poster size.
  • Photographs should be a minimum of 8 x 10 in (20 x 25 cm); the minimum size for all other illustrations is 9 in x 12 in (23 x 30 cm).
  • You should set up your poster on the evening of October 26th or the morning of October 27th. Posters will be displayed throughout the Conference, and presenters may be given an opportunity to make a few introductory comments on their poster within the time constraints of the programme.
